The powerful head of the Vatican’s saint-making office, Angelo Becciu, has resigned suddenly and renounced his rights as a cardinal. This is due to being implicated indirectly in a financial scandal involving the Holy See’s investment in a London real estate deal, that has lost millions of euros in fees paid to middlemen.
